PM calls for General Election on June 8

This morning, UK Prime Minister Theresa May announced an unexpected press release to be held at approximately 11am BST. After some speculation and confusion, she called for a General Election to be held on June 8th. She still needs parliamentary approval for it to be confirmed, but it seems likely to happen.
